Shishu Sarothi's journey began modestly in 1987,with just 2 children(Biki and Amit),a trained special educator and a close knit team of parents and volunteers, operating from one room setup in one of the children's grandparents' home. The founding team was led by Brinda Crishna, Tondra Borbora(Biki's mother), Mira Kagti (Amit's aunt), late Anjana Hazarika (Lahori)Shamsad Haq and others. As word spread about the wide array of services offered and the number of children grew, we moved a few times before settling in 1997 to our own premises, built painstakingly over the years on Govt alloted land in Birubari, Guwahati.
